Noritz is a Japanese-based company that was founded in 1951 on the belief that a quality bath brings joy to people, releasing their Type A bathwater heater. The tub itself was constructed of heat retaining tiles that would keep the water in the tub hot, as the wood or coal burning beneath the tub would provide the heat source.
By the early 1960s, Japanese homes were being switched from coal and wood-fired furnaces to heating oil or natural gas devices. Noritz launched the GS model in 1961, which was the first gas-powered water heater with an aluminum tank –instead of the more expensive copper that was then the standard—making residential water heating affordable to anyone with indoor plumbing!
Today, Noritz is one of the largest international residential tankless water heaters manufacturers, with 28 different models available. It’s a safe bet that Noritz will have a tankless water heater that will suit the needs of your home.
This Noritz model is unusual as it is the only tankless model among our featured products that is not Wi-Fi enabled or controlled by an app. Nope, the Noritz NR-98 keeps it old-school with a simple 4-button control panel with an LED display on the front of your water heater. Fortunately, the accompanying instruction manual provides in-depth instructions for setting water temperature, monitoring usage, and setting “home” and “away” schedules that reduces the number of heating cycles at times no one is home.
